The Financial Leaders Group / Financial Leaders Working Group
Program Manager: Ekrem Sarper
The The Financial Leaders Group (FLG) was organized in 1996 to provide unified European-North American financial sector support to liberalize trade in financial services in the 1997 WTO financial services negotiations. The FLG proved a key player in securing the 1997 Financial Services Agreement and continues its work in the current WTO services negotiations. The Financial Leaders Working Group (FLWG) meets by phone regularly, and in person in tandem with larger international meetings. The Group now consists of North American, European, Japanese, and Hong Kong financial leaders and continues to advance the goal of commercially meaningful liberalization of global financial services trade.
