CSI is proud to announce the release of a new study, entitled “Services Drive U.S. Growth and Jobs: The Importance of Services by State and Congressional District.” It found that the service sector represents the largest portion of U.S. employment and economic output – accounting for 93 million jobs and nearly 80 percent of U.S. private sector GDP – approximately $8.5 trillion.

The CSI study also found that the majority of the workforce in every Congressional district is employed in services.  In 398 Congressional districts, 70 percent or more of the workforce is employed in the service sector, and every state in the nation is an exporter of services.  The study’s findings were released at a Capitol Hill event launching a new Congressional Services Caucus.
