Global Services Coalition & Financial Leaders Working Group
Mission to Geneva
July 11-13, 2006
The Global Services Coalition & Financial Leaders Working Group are leading a mission to Geneva from July 11-13, 2006, which will correspond with the rescheduled services "cluster". We have agreed on those dates after consulting with WTO officials and several trade negotiators, who have advised that that timing is good for a visit.
We propose to start the session on Tuesday
July 11, with Hamid Mamdouh, Ambassador
DeMateo, and Ambassador Glenne to get a thorough briefing on the latest state of play in the services negotiations, and the Round more broadly. Following these meetings we shall meet with the Ambassadors of both the U.S. and the European Union.who play such an influential role in these negotiations.
The next two days will be comprised of meetings with Ambassadors or senior officials from key countries such as Brazil, India, Malaysia, China, and a number of others, as the schedule indicates. The group will hold a press conference on the afternoon of July 12th. We will also hold a cocktail
reception and dinner on the evening of the 12th at the President Wilson Hotel, to which we would invite the Director-General Pascal Lamy, Ambassadors of key delegations, as well as others that we may not be calling on as a group. Click here to register to attend the reception and dinner.

We are pleased to let everyone know that we have been able to re-secure a block of rooms at the Hotel Epsom. The rate will be CHF 275 a night and they require that all bookings be made by June 19th to be eligible for this special rate. We encourage all members to make their booking ASAP to ensure the availability of this rate.

To cover the expenses associated with room rental at the conference centre and receptions, lunches and dinner there
will be a $950 per person fee (consistent with previous trips to Geneva). This fee will cover lunch on both Tuesday, cocktail reception and dinner for WTO Ambassadors on Wednesday and coffee breaks. Each participant is responsible for their own hotel and flight charges.
Click here for the booking form which will help us know exactly who will attend and provides a credit card option for those who wish to pay by card. This form must be returned to Ekrem Sarper at sarper@uscsi.org no later than June 27th.
